What is a TAM Card

TAM CARD – WHAT IS IT?

We thought we would set the record straight and eliminate any confusion you may have about TAM Cards and alcohol awareness training. Almost everyone in Las Vegas has heard the term “TAM Card” before. A Tam Card is an alcohol awareness card, which is given to a person who completes a state-certified alcohol awareness course as a form of proof. In 2007, a company in Michigan known as the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association (MLBA) filed a federal trademark registration on the term “TAM Card”. As such, they advertise that they are the “only official TAM Card provider”. This is just a marketing gimmick. With such marketing, they are trying to make people think they are the only place to go for alcohol awareness cards. In fact, until 2007 MLBA had a monopoly on alcohol awareness cards in Clark County.

Due to an agreement our parent company signed with MLBA, we are unable to make any statements with regard to the term “TAM Card” being a generic term for alcohol awareness cards. MLBA, and their arrogant pig-headed lawyers (including Manny Herceg, whose head looks like a deflated tether ball), claim that when people use the term “TAM Card”, they only associate it with MLBA based in Michigan. Unfortunately, our agreement also prohibits us from making any factual or opinions statements about the term “TAM Card” being generic. You can, of course, come to your own conclusion.

Nevada law does not require alcohol serving employees to obtain a “TAM Card” from MLBA, it requires employees to complete an alcohol awareness course from a state-certified company.
